I've got two express base stations ( one extends the primary ) and a airtunes card. Wife's got a mac powerbook, I've got a Mac desktop, my work laptop, and a mac mini converted to pvr/entertainment center. The Xp laptop seems to get a crappy signal and drops, well I thought it was just that. I am home only at night and chalked my wife's complaining about drops as user error. I work from home today for the first time in a long time and saw them for myself. At night there's no problem.

Then I saw your last fix, reading that I realized that my home phone's base station is RIGHT NEXT to the primary base station. My wife doesn't ever answer the home phone since everyone she knows calls her iphone. So if someone calls the message light's blinking constantly and I suppose sends a signal out to the other handsets to blink.

I unplugged that phone base station and the network hasn't dropped for anything since.

Thanks!

A quick update: I am getting no drops since my latest change :)

I downloaded the 'iStumbler Spectrum Widget' from http://www.istumbler.net/ , for my Mac, and on running it found that I was competing for bandwidth, with other wireless routers in my neighbourhood, on channel 6. It looked like a rush hour traffic jam with seven other routers on that channel. I looked at the channels that were less congested and then tried them to see which one would give me the best result. In doing so my music now plays without interruption. Let's just hope it stays this way.

I have started encountering this issue, but only recently. When I first got my airport express I had zero issues and then it started happening. Something must have changed in my environment.

One thing I have noticed is the number of neighbours who now have wireless networks, so this may be part of the issue. I leave in a built up area with apartments around me, so this increases the proximity of the networks. I will check out the suggestion of the wireless home phone, but there is little I can do with the factors beyond my apartment.
